Options Holder
In options trading, the options holder is the party who buys an option to as the initial (opening) transaction. To purchase an option, the options trader initiates a buy-to-open transaction.
Once he has bought an option, the options trader is considered long the option and has the right to exercise the option before the expiration date.
To exit the long position, the options holder will have to initiate a sell-to-close transaction.
